DPP routed in Kaohsiung and Taichung mayoral races

President Tsai Ing-wen’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was trounced Saturday in the Kaohsiung and Taichung mayoral races. The defeat in Kaohsiung comes as an especially heavy blow for the party, which has regarded the southern city as a stronghold for two decades.
